The vast majority of biologist find evolution by natural selection to be more persuasive than intelligent design and creationism simply because biologist have facts and evidence that they can show for this theory. Although, natural selection is only “just a theory”, the questions that raised from wondering how human life or evolution came about can be explained through one man’s well thought out theory of natural selection by Charles Darwin. From a scientific point of view natural selection may seem the most valuable way to explained how we evolved from bacteria to other bacteria, to plants, to animals, to different types of species. But only the smartest and the fittest made the cute hence homo-sapiens (us).
Earlier in the year I was introduced to anthropology which explained the evolutionary biology of primates with particular emphasis on hominid evolution and behavior. The genetic and evolutionary mechanisms underlying evolution, human variation, primate field studies, and the hominid palentological record are stressed, which made me come to a question how legit there conclusions to human life were. Most of the theories and scientist introduced in the class fed off each other and because one wanted to know and learn more or make a theory better another theory was formed. In saying all that according to my understanding, scientist used facts that weren’t necessarily testable, the dating methods and fossils used to determined how we used natural selection and evolve from one organism to another seemed outdated to me. Biologist go with predictions and hypotheses that they can prove, and be altered due to “new science”. And that is one of the reasons why scientists or biologist can persuade you to believe in evolution because they have old fossils and can predict or show how we naturally selected the best traits that helped us come up to be the humans we are today.
Evolution sounds a lot like religion when you compare how both creationist and evolution both use their own facts and findings to contribute to their thinking. Creationist have the Bible and their faith and biologist have their intricate tangible findings of human life. People cannot really argue with religion because that is judging someone’s faith and who is to say that their beliefs don’t play a part in how we were created? The same rule goes for biologist if the facts are there then it is easier to show and persuade your thinking or beliefs in evolution. Nonetheless, a person’s religious background has a huge impact on whether they’re going to believe in one or the other, and in rare cases none or both.
Intelligent design/ creationism is still so relevant in America because people have faith. People believing they have a creator have faith that God or their creator made no mistakes when He created them, “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. (Hebrews 11:1 KJV Bible). And “Through faith we understand that the worlds are framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear” (Hebrews 11:3 KJV Bible) Personally, I have faith and believe that I do have one God that created me and created all things around me. For those whom believe in the Word of God read the Bible to build their faith and use the word as encouragement in time of need and or clarity when confused or for hope in time of distress. Intelligent design will always be around and for those who believe have unexplainable hope or faith, that we ourselves cannot explain sometimes because they are special experiences that cannot be explained through facts or theories but like mindedness.
