Evolution vs. Intelligent Design.
Why do the vast majority of biologists find evolution by natural selection to be more persuasive than intelligent design/creationism. Conversely, why is intelligent design/creationism still popular in America?
Natural selection is more persuasive than intelligent design/creationism among the vast majority of biologist because science is and the natural laws that support natural selection is in their foundation of their understanding. It is in their concrete belief that among a tried and true theory is based on science and not merely based on faith as in creationism. This is among the fallacies of the argument among intelligent design and creationism, where the fundamental base is on faith and where there is faith there is a given fault because it throws out any reasoning in support of their faith in what they believe to be true. One would argue that natural selection would go so far as to the beginning of a species, then what made the parents of the first of a species? It would have to be some divine or intelligent design that brought about its very existence. But one could understand that nothing can just poof into existence and that’s where science comes in. Curiosity and observation of this very question brought about different theories and science to prove each side. But What Darwin discovered was that species evolve through natural selection and adapt to their environment through that survival process. So with this theory one could surmise or through reductionism that species evolve from a simpler form before the present day specialized species. And to go on even further to its origin and ancestry with fossilized records one could find how far they go back. What’s the point of origin?, because of science there is evidence to prove the planet is billions of years old so to get from atoms and clumps of carbon to the first molecules and cells happened though billions of years not just happen instantaneous as the belief of creationist. Their also has to be a point of origin from the simplest form of an atoms and gases. That’s where the science starts and the theories put to the test and what is left to explain is what we have based on deductive reasoning and not just beliefs that things just exist out of nowhere. What about the argument humans are if not already at the brink to create life themselves? Well it’s not the story of man or the existing history of the species currently on the planet. The conception of life on this planet is based on the evolution and natural selection of each species struggling to survive. What about the argument of intelligent design that aliens came here and created what was the beginning of life. Until we see evidence of aliens, one can throw that out, if there is proof of their existence then we might just question what is true or even then we would have to prove their intervention.
Intelligent design and creationism is still popular in America because the majority of people are of a religious faith. Their bases of understanding is first their faith. Their belief in their faith has God as the divine being that created the Universe in 7 days. Mainly is what is set in the Bible which many of the faith hold that as history and truth which is in itself the word of God. People of science can see this as an appeal to faith with the fallacies that they don’t take into account the scientific bases and just keep believing in creationism just because of faith.
