Humans follows rules and laws, often inherited or set before them. Often, the ones that follow these rules wholeheartedly are considered the most respectful. However, the most respectful humans are the ones that can decide for themselves what is righteous, without the need of a society or a religion to force them into an inherited belief of righteousness.
The idea of a Government is to control a state or community, setting rules, and occasionally even forcing religion upon citizens. In a sense, a government can prosecute and judge a citizen for following or breaking rules during his or her lifetime, and the religion will often do the same once the citizen’s life has ended. This practically forces ideas onto the citizen, disallowing him or her to progress in certain ways due to following of a morale the is not his or her own. Although these rules are set by the society, following these rules does not necessarily develop positive morels for individuals. There is no universal moral that governs individual people.
Nietzsche believed in great man that can be away from society, and yet be able to improve himself and follow a conduct that he sets for himself. This man, who has discovered right from wrong on his own, is truly the man that should be considered righteous. For example. if one person has an idea that negatively impacts the value of life, yet individuals believe in this idea, and this idea is passed down without question, each person affected by this idea of life will be negatively impacted. This is the problem with the way our current society functions, and this is why the man that can discover what is right from wrong without blindly following rules of a government or religion should be considered righteous.
As humans understand more about the world, an increase in science often pushes individuals away from religion, along with individuals into a nietzschean understanding. Friedrich Nietzsche believes that, after the enlightenment era occurred, “God is dead”, and individuals that embrace religious ideas or rules over scientific findings will be left behind as the rest develop. For example, the ban of stem cell research by a government due to religious issues will cease the progress of many scientists. However, the scientists that continue their research despite government or religious laws are the ones that will be saving lives with their findings. These are the men or women that can be considered “übermensch”, or the ones the choose their own beliefs of right or wrong over the government’s and religions. The men and women that choose not to do the research or accept treatment that can save their lives due to religious rules will ultimately perish.
Ultimately, the best and most respectful way to live is to decide on your own what the rules and regulations should be, without influence by any external factor. Religious and society’s laws can often cloud one's judgement, causing issues with inheriting laws that can affect one negatively. Being outside of society is the greatest method of not being subject to pressures or rules of regular society.
